APPAREL PROJECT
Founded in 2012/13 to an overwhelming Kickstarter success (at the time NZ's most funded international project). We went on to grow the brand into bricks and mortar, eventually selling the business as a going concern in 2017. With a team of two, we produced all content; developed the brand; wrote the copy; and designed the products.

A tip of the hat to the design and build process.

Two or three years after the initial brand launch, we established The Craft Haus as the Opus Fresh Apparel Co HQ, distribution centre and shop. Based at the foot of Mt Ruapehu in New Zealand, we spent about six months refurbishing Ohakune’s original railway station, designing the space as an interactive brand experience. The concept store went on to became an outdoors hub for people travelling in the national park. We also brought a coffee roasting company in to share the space. The smell of fresh roasted coffee was designed to give a homely feel, and the tag ‘come and say hi, we’ll put the billy on’ was coined.

As an outdoors brand, natural forms were central to the design. Rough sawn timbers and wooden hangers were just part of the design mix.
